My expectations for this team were already low, but holy crap!  The Reds lost, 1-0, to the Pirates despite not allowing a hit in the game.  The Reds are the first team since 2008 to allow zero hits and lose.
Just give me a reason
Just a little bit’s enough
Just a second, we’re not broken, just bent
And we can learn to love again

It’s been written in the scars on our hearts

And we can learn to love again

And if you look to your right, you will see a Dumpster fire already in progress.  The Phillies fired manager Joe Girardi.  Updates to come.

The Phillies beat the Angels, 10-0.

How could things go so wrong for this team?  The Angels fired manager Joe Maddon in the midst of a 12-game losing streak.  Third base coach Phil Nevin was named interim manager.  Updates to come.

The Angels lost to the Red Sox, 6-5, in 10 innings.

I know a select group of people will really like this.  The Astros no-hit the Yankees in a 3-0 win as Cristian Javier had seven innings pitched and 13 strikeouts to team with two relievers in throwing the Astros’ second combined no-hitter on the road against the Yankees and first since 2003.

When did we get MMA in MLB?  Eight were ejected in an all-out brawl between the Mariners and Angels as the Mariners’ Jesse Winker charged Angels interim manager Phil Nevin after being hit by a pitch.  The Angels beat the Mariners, 2-1.

This marks the beginning of the future.  The 2022 MLB draft is on right now.  The Orioles are on the clock.  Where will Druw Jones and Jackson Holliday land?  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  Time to see if fortunes will turn in Charm City.  The Orioles selected Jackson Holliday from Stillwater (Okla.) High School with the No. 1 pick in the 2022 MLB draft.  He is the son of All-Star Matt Holliday.

The Orioles lost to the Rays, 7-5.

Grab your gloves!  Cardinals designated hitter Albert Pujols, Nationals rightfielder Juan Soto and more are swinging for the fences in the Home Run Derby, but can anybody dethrone Mets first baseman Pete Alonso?  Updates to come.

Soto beat Mariners centerfielder Julio Rodríguez in the finals, 19-18.

This should be a great documentary.  The first episode of the Derek Jeter documentary “The Captain” is on right now.  This episode will include never-before-seen draft footage.

We've lost an iconic voice of many generations.  Vin Scully died at 94.  His 67-year stint with the Brooklyn Dodgers/Los Angeles Dodgers was the longest time spent by a sports broadcaster with any one team.  Also, not that it matters, but the Dodgers beat the Giants, 9-5.

This is one of the last things you want to see coming toward the playoff push.  According to Jeff Passan, Padres star Fernando Tatís Jr. violated Major League Baseball's performance-enhancing drug policy and is facing a suspension.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  Well, RIP San Diego's title hopes.  Major League Baseball announced Tatís received an 80-game suspension without pay for testing positive for Clostebol.

The Padres beat the Nationals, 10-5.

Welcome to the pantheon of baseball immortality!  The Cardinals' Albert Pujols hit home runs No. 699 and No. 700 against the Dodgers.  Updates to come.

The Cardinals beat the Dodgers, 11-0.

Is tonight going to be the night?  The Red Sox are playing the Yankees as the Yankees' Aaron Judge continues his pursuit of Roger Maris' AL record of 61 home runs.  Updates to come.

The Yankees beat the Red Sox, 2-0, in six innings.

The Yankees beat the Blue Jays, 5-3.

Touch them all and make history, kid!  The Yankees' Aaron Judge led off the game against the Rangers with his 62nd home run of the season to break Roger Maris' American League record.  Updates to come.

The Rangers beat the Yankees, 3-2.
The Yankees beat the Rangers earlier in the day, 5-4.
