So the Premier League kicks off in a couple of weeks and the fixture list has been issued:

Liverpool kick off the season on the 9th August with a home game against Norwich City.

Man City are favourites with the Bookies to retain the title at 8/15
Liverpool are second favs at 13/5.

Everyone else has real long odds - Spurs 16/1, Chelsea 25/1 and Man Utd 30/1

Here's hoping for an exciting season!

Well if the season is half as good as last year it will be good to watch.

As a life long Liverpool fan last season was a roller coaster ride and ultimately I feel we let slip a golden chance when the title was in our own hands and we had back to back draws against Man U & West Ham which handed the advantage back to City which they never gave back.

I fear we might not get a chance as good as that this year especially given that our midfield is still lacking a natural goal scorer that can help out the front three when they are having an off day, that was the difference between us and City last season when you compare how many goals they scored from midfield to our total. I was hoping the rumours of Coutinho coming back would be more than that as we lack a creative attacking force in that area and he would fit the bill perfectly having previously been a favourite before moving to Barca.

Hope they can prove me wrong as not winning a title in the Premier League era to date is an albatross we really need to get rid off asap.

Holy crap! Norwich City 3, Manchester City 2.  And Norwich playing with half its roster out with injuries. I saw it and still don't believe it  :o

I'm an American and even I don't believe it.  Mighty Man City losing to recently promoted Norwich?  What's the temperature in Hell right now?

Liverpool 3, Manchester City 1 in the season's first big 1 vs 2 showdown game. Liverpool pulls 8 points clear of the field at approximately 1/3 of the way through the season.

Liverpool fan myself but caution is needed in getting carried away with this as last season we were 7 points clear at Christmas and still lost the title to Man City.

Their points total last season (97) set a new record for the total points amassed without actually winning the title - indeed it would have won all bar 2 of the last 27 seasons of Premier League football.

Until it is mathematically impossible for them to lose the title, I for one will not be counting any chickens.

I actually think Leicester might have a shot at getting into top 4 this season, looking at how Spurs, Arsenal and ManUtd are in a slump. It's also interesting to see how well Chelsea is doing considering the transfer ban and a relatively inexperienced manager.

The first coaching change of the season is a huge one: Tottenham Hotspur has fired Mauricio Pochettino and replaced him with Jose Mourinho.
