Title: MLB 2020
Post by: InThe313 on February 21, 2020, 12:19:53 AM
Believe it or not, the preseason starts today in Surprise, Ariz.  Get ready for a season of craziness all the way into October.  And please, when posting news and notes, be mindful and respectful of others, even if it comes to bashing the Astros.  (I'm not sorry, I just had to sneak that in.)

I hate this virus with a passion.  According to Jeff Passan, Major League Baseball is expected to suspend baseball operations indefinitely after today.

I'm just hoping Detroit's idiot general manager doesn't blow this.  The 2020 MLB draft is on.  The Tigers are on the clock with the first overall pick.  Updates to come.

The Tigers selected Arizona State Sun Devils first baseman Spencer Torkelson with the first overall pick.

While we wait for the possible return of baseball, here is something to enjoy in the meantime.  Relive the 1998 home run race between Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa that captivated America with the “30 for 30” episode “Long Gone Summer”.

This does put a smile on my face.  The MLB owners voted to proceed with the 2020 season under the March agreement.  They asked the MLBPA if players could report to camp by July 1.

What a gem!  The Cubs' Alec Mills threw a no-hitter in a 12-0 win over the Brewers.  Mills threw the first Cubs no-hitter since current Phillies player Jake Arrieta in 2016.  In case anyone is wondering, the Phillies lost to the Marlins, 2-1, in seven innings in Game 1.  Updates to come.
