NCAA Football 2019
« on: July 28, 2019, 06:47:59 PM »
So 2018 saw the coronation of the Clemson Tigers as National Champions. And the emergence of Trevor Lawrence as a future star in the making.

Can the Tigers win back-to-back titles? Will the Crimson Tide bounce back and own all before them.

Or will we see another college emerge victorious this year.

The season kicks of with a Florida "derby" on the 24th of August: Hurricanes v Gators in Orlando.

Not a full fixture list here but the opening couple of weeks:

I fantasize all the time about the Saints maybe tanking to get Trevor Lawrence. It's a pipe dream but it would send me over the moon in joy.

I think Clemson can repeat. Not really feeling Alabama this year but they are going to be in the final 4.

All I want this year is for LSU to break the cycle and finally beat Bama again. Last time they did was in 2011 and that was a long time ago.

The season is a go!  Miami (Fla.) is playing No. 8 Florida in their first meeting since 2013 when the Hurricanes pulled of an upset, 21-16.  This is the head-coaching debut of the Hurricanes' Manny Diaz.  The Gators have their best AP preseason ranking since 2010.  Updates to come.

Florida beat Miami, 24-20.

Just give me a reason
Just a little bit’s enough
Just a second, we’re not broken, just bent
And we can learn to love again
It’s in the stars
It’s been written in the scars on our hearts
That we’re not broken, just bent
And we can learn to love again
Just give me a reason
Just a little bit’s enough
Just a second we’re not broken, just bent

Rough loss for Michigan today.

LSU is looking good. Could this finally be the year they beat Bama?

It's about time this happened.  No. 5 Oklahoma suffered their first loss as they were upset, 48-41, on the road to Kansas State.  It was the Wildcats' first win over an AP Top 5 team since 2006.

We have a shake-up near the top.  No. 4 Penn State lost its first game of the season in a 31-26 upset against No. 17 Minnesota.  The Golden Gophers' Rashod Bateman had 203 receiving yards, the second-most in school history.

Whew, what a game!  No. 2 LSU survived against No. 3 Alabama, 45-41.  The Tigers snapped an eight-game skid against the Crimson Tide and Joe Burrow had 393 passing yards and three touchdowns.  The Crimson Tide's Tua Tagovailoa had 418 passing yards and four touchdowns.
