NBA 2021-22
« on: October 03, 2021, 04:45:34 PM »
Believe it or not, we're already at the start of the preseason, which tips off today in Los Angeles.  Have fun, leave your news and notes and be respectful of others.
Just give me a reason
Just a little bit’s enough
Just a second, we’re not broken, just bent
And we can learn to love again
It’s in the stars
It’s been written in the scars on our hearts
That we’re not broken, just bent
And we can learn to love again
Just give me a reason
Just a little bit’s enough
Just a second we’re not broken, just bent
And we can learn to love again
It’s in the stars
It’s written in the scars on our hearts
That we’re not broken, just bent
And we can learn to love again

And now, the games matter.  The NBA is officially back tonight with a banner ceremony, as it always should be.  Your Opening Night schedule:

Brooklyn Nets at Milwaukee Bucks tonight at 7:30 p.m.
Golden State Warriors at Los Angeles Lakers tonight at 10 p.m.
Just give me a reason
Just a little bit’s enough
Just a second, we’re not broken, just bent
And we can learn to love again
It’s in the stars
It’s been written in the scars on our hearts
That we’re not broken, just bent
And we can learn to love again
Just give me a reason
Just a little bit’s enough
Just a second we’re not broken, just bent
And we can learn to love again
It’s in the stars
It’s written in the scars on our hearts
That we’re not broken, just bent
And we can learn to love again

Please let this be an omen of how the season will go for this team!  There was drama on the Lakers’ bench as Anthony Davis got physical with Dwight Howard during a shouting match in a timeout against the Suns.  Updates to come.

The Suns beat the Lakers, 115-105.

I was waiting for this story to drop and now, it's finally here and it truly is disturbing.  According to Baxter Holmes, there is alleged toxicity inside the Suns as interviews with more than 70 employees show Robert Sarver exhibited racist and misogynistic behavior throughout his 17 years as owner.  Updates to come.

The Suns beat the Rockets, 123-111.

Boy, that escalated quickly.  The Nuggets’ Nikola Jokić and the Heat’s Markieff Morris were ejected after exchanging hard fouls and the Heat’s Jimmy Butler got a technical as tempers flared in a 113-96 Nuggets win.

You knew there was going to be fall out from this.  Reigning NBA MVP and Nuggets center Nikola Jokić was suspended one game for shoving Heat power forward Markieff Morris in yesterday’s win.  Morris was fined $50,000.

Honestly, I completely understand the rage.  The Lakers' LeBron James was ejected in a bloody scuffle as the Pistons' Isaiah Stewart got in James' face and had to be restrained after an elbow from James left Stewart's face bloody.  Updates to come.

The Lakers beat the Pistons, 121-116.

The King has been a real bitch this week.  The Lakers' LeBron James pointed out two fans to referees during Wednesday's game against the Pacers and the pair were escorted out of the arena.  The Lakers beat the Pacers, 124-116, in overtime.

This is a king-sized beatdown.  The Grizzlies beat the Thunder, 152-79.  The 73-point margin of victory is the largest in NBA history.

Shall we call him the greatest shooter of all-time?  The Warriors' Stephen Curry hit his second three-point shot of the night, breaking Ray Allen's mark for the most in NBA history.  Updates to come.

The Warriors beat the Knicks, 105-96.

Well, I suppose this is one way to get him back on the court.  According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Nets plan to activate point guard Kyrie Irving as a part-time player for games outside of New York.

Cue up the highlight reel.  The Grizzlies' Ja Morant defied gravity with perhaps the greatest NBA block, snatching the ball out of midair with both hands before hitting his elbow on the backboard.  Updates to come.

The Grizzlies beat the Lakers, 127-119.
