Title: Movies Talk! What have you watched lately?
Post by: Cadeauxxx on November 03, 2018, 07:52:59 PM

A topic for discussing movies. What have you been watching lately?

I'm about to watch some old classics this week with the Maltese Falcon and Humoresque. Classic film month coming for me.

Criterion sale going on on Barnes and Noble. The only place aside form local record stores I can walk into and browse for physical media.

Physical media or bust.

Just watched the Superfly remake - not a patch on the '72 original, but entertaining enough in a forgettable way.  The only thing that really sticks with me is that the rival gang is called Snow Patrol; I suppose it's better than calling them Coldplay, but . . .

You can't stop The Rock from appearing in movies. He's in everything! A modern day Arnold Schwarzenegger, like from the 80s and 90s when he was in everything.

Watched Mama Mia and the best bit is Cher singing Fernando! The Equalizer 1st and 2nd part. This one is good if you like the good guy to win all the time. Sicario and the 2nd part. Mission Impossible.

I had to chuckle at the Cher part LOL. She has had some decent acting roles from time to time.

Hope that plane ride went well for you.

The MV movie is bad. Most of it seems like a big screen adaption of the episode 'Smuggler's Blues'. Biggest problem though is that there is no chemistry between Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx whatsoever.

Emilia Clarke was hot in that Terminator movie, the only good thing about it.

As a rabid fan of both Michael Mann and Miami Vice, I will say I don't think the movie is that bad.  It's nothing special, and there is as you say a distinct lack of chemistry between the leads, but for me it works on an aesthetic level - I think it's the combination of soulless glitz and grimy early digital photography.  Or something.
On the other hand, you could also spend the time watching two or three episodes of the real thing instead, so . . .

That's what Michael Mann is great at in terms of stylistic aesthetics. Every movie he's ever done, usually has great camera work and a good style. I especially like his work with 'Manhunter' which I thought was better than the Red Dragon remake.

I can see why some Vice fans enjoy the movie, though it never clicked with me.

Manhunter is one of my favourites, I think I prefer it to Silence of the Lambs even.  (Though I don't know I'd say it's actually better, objectively.)

Saw Bohemian Rhapsody earlier, it's not bad - basically it is every other boilerplate rock biopic, but with Queen.  Worth it to hear the music played over a full-scale cinema sound system, I don't know that it would be worth watching at home - you might as well just listen to the music instead.  Rami Malek is as good as Freddie as anyone could reasonably expect, it's obvious when he's lip-synching but that's unavoidable really.

Watched this movie called Acts of Violence with Bruce Willis. It was a big ol piled of horse manure LOL. He's one of my favorite action stars from the 90's... Its sad to see him just go through the motions and star in garbage just to collect a paycheck. I am looking forward to seeing him in Glass.

Empire Records is a guilty pleasure of mine.

It reeks of bad 90's fashion but it has a charm to it. Pretty much the 90's Breakfast Club.

I saw searching earlier this week too, I really liked it.

I saw The Favourite yesterday.  I liked the movie for more than just getting to see Emma Stone topless on the big screen (really nice nips btw).  I'm curious to know the order the film was shot because there were two other scenes where Emma could have shown off some nudity (she was in 2 other scene where she was topless but you only see her back and some side boob).  Only thing I really didn't care for was the ending.

She was hot in that movie. I don't particularly care much for Tarantino but that is my favorite script he wrote.

Love the pink Cadillac and even Brad Pitt has a funny scene in it.

James Gandolfini really stole the show as the sadistic evil mobster. Stories on the set were that he slept in his car to get into character for that movie and he felt so horrible over how he abuses Patricia in that movie, he was constantly apologizing to her after the filming.

R.I.P. Class act. Stories about him on the set of the Sopranos always talk about how much he fought for the other actors to be paid better.

Saw Mortal Engines and Into the Spiderverse today. Mortal Engines, I wonder how good the book is. Feels like they cut a little too much back story and kept some unneeded side stories in the movie.  I am guessing that this is one of those movies (like Maze Runner) where for every plot hole or thing I didn't like about the movie, someone who read the book could probably give a lot of background detail on stuff.  Also love the typical Hollywood the main female character has a birthmark/scar/or something so lets have people comment on how she isn't that good looking despite the fact that she seems to still be better looking than 99% of all the other women around.  It so reminds me of Not Another Teen Movie where the joke is Chyler Leigh's character isn't attractive at all because she has glasses and paint on her overalls.

Spiser-man: Into the Spider-verse might be the best animated movie this year. I thought it was fantastic. (not saying that because Hailee Steinfeld voices on if the characters).  Nice seeing Miles Morales get some spotlight. I thought the story, even for an origin story was original and very well done. Visually it was great, very much a comic book brought to live. Also loved the soundtrack.  All-and-all I was really impressed by it.

That part of the movie was so interesting. I went online after watching it and was reading all the theories and interpretations that people came up with.

It seems like they left the big questions unanswered so the viewer could come up with their own conclusions. I really liked it. Will have to think about this movie in the future when I look for ideas about a new series.

I first saw him in the excellent TV series Ultraviolet, back in -checks IMDB- 1998!?!

Just watched Mandy, which I'd been wanting to see since I first heard about it last year - I really liked the directors previous film Beyond the Black Rainbow - and I was not disappointed.  For a film which features a custom battleaxe, mutant bikers, and a chainsaw duel, it's actually quite slowly paced and there's an otherworldly beauty to some of it.  It's a much an art film as a crazy Nicolas Cage revenge movie.  I loved it.

Haven't seen The Usual Suspects in ages, been vaguely thinking about rewatching it . . .

I watched a LOT of movies over this Christmas week/weekend at home outside of the movies I saw in theaters.

Sorry To Bother You was a weird movie. I just couldn't get into it.

A Simple Favor was quite good. After watching the movie, I think I became a fan of Anna Kendrick and I never really noticed how thin she is with nice size boobs. And Blake Lively is probably the sexiest woman on the planet. She would be in my top 25 ranking if I would have seen more movies with her in them. So probably going to start watching more of her work.

Watched Deadpool 2 for a second time. Still in my top 5 favorite/best comic book movies of 2018.

Watched Avengers Infinity War for the 6th time on Netflix and its still my number one favorite/best movie of 2018.

Watched A Quiet Place for the second time and its one of my top favorite movies of 2018.

The Raid movies are not heavy on the plot, but still some of the best fighting sequences I've seen in any movie.

The Predator... Holy shit was that movie awful...

I've seen a few movies recently. Some of the big named ones that stand out:

AQUAMAN - Entertaining enough, one of the better DCEU movies (though that does not mean much).  However I agree with Noopster that a lot of the Mythology about Atlantis and also some of the connections to Justice League make no sense.  Early on he asks Mera what her name is and says he has never been to Atlantis, but in JL he new were the mother box was held and he had clearly met Mera before.

BIRDBOX - A mix of A Quiet Place and The Happening, that is closer to A Quiet Place than The Happening in terms of quality.

VICE - Well done and enjoyable.  I really like Amy Adams, Sam Rockwell and Tyler Perry's performances.  I think if nothing else this movie will probably in the Oscar for makeup.  They went a little overboard with some of the cutaways in this one. Felt like The Big Short did a better job mixing in their cutaways, plus The Big Short had Margot Robbie in a bubble bath.

BUMBLEBEE - Movie was enjoyable and way better than I ever expected when I first heard about the project., however it is not 93% on Rotten Tomatoes good.  I will also not doubt Hailee Steinfeld's choices in picking roles for a while.  Could not get why she settle for a Transformer movie other than a big paycheck, but she was great in it and unlike other Transformers movies she had a character that was fairly well developed and not used as just eye candy.  Also the opening scene with the war on Cybertron is probably the best fight scene in all the Transformers movies, I wish there was more of it.

Birdbox was alright. I didn't think it was anything special.

Bandersnatch was absolutely weird, but enjoyable at the same time. After a while it did become repetitive trying to find new paths by doing the old ones over again.

Bad Times at El Royal. Dark thriller. Lots of big names in it.

Was well worth a watch. If you have a opportunity, go for it.

Do not go to Wiki and read up on the story haha. You have to watch it without any knowledge to appreciate it.

Overlord

Set the day before D-Day is about US airborne sent behind enemy lines. A little far fetched but also a ok watch.

Bohemian Rhapsody

Wow. Some new stuff I didn't know but a good effeort. If you like Queen definitely need to watch.

Geena Davis and Samuel L Jackson. Underrated I thought. She did really well.

I never thought we'd actually get a genuinely good live-action manga/anime adaptation, let alone one from a Western studio, but here we are.  Alita: Battle Angel is ace.

The Long Kiss Goodnight.
Criminally underrated '90s action film, I love it.

Captain Marvel. 3/5. Typical Marvel filler before the main event and the insane hubbub both in praising it AND tearing it down is downright mystifying.

Will look to catch this soon. Guess might as well.

Watched First Man. I a..not so familiar with the NASA space program in the 60s and so not sure how accurate this is but it is worth a watch I think. I enjoyed it.

Also watched the Girl in The Spider's Web. This I thought was really good. Maybe a little unbelievable that one person can do so much but then we have all grown up with James Bond and Jason Bourne. Try and catch it if you can.

Triple Frontier with Ben Affleck and Oscar Issac was good! I enjoyed it. Not action heavy, but when there was action, it was done well. I really enjoyed the bond and brotherhood with Affleck and the other guys. Good story.

Liked Captain Marvel a lot, despite being sick to death of origin stories at this point.  The pacing is a bit weak in the first half, and it doesn't have a firm enough grasp on the general tone, but the main performances are good enough to mostly cover for that.  It doesn't go too heavy on the '90s retro thing either, which is probably for the best even if I'd have liked a little more.  Great soundtrack, 'generic orchestral Marvel music' aside.

As with most here, Captain Marvel. I loved it. Easy to watch and no strain or stress.

For the pervert in me, wish she was Ms Marvel with the old costume with the high cut in the leg area and big tits. lol

Being a big time MCU fan, I walked away from Captain Marvel with a headache. It tried to do so many things and failed at most of them. I honestly found nothing redeeming about it and I'm surprised Kevin Feige allowed this on his watch.

Now this is an amazing origin story I can get behind. Love the manga, but seeing Motorball realized was so great.

ADMIN NOTE: Please no politics here. Talk of a movie 'having an agenda' falls under politics. It's fine to criticize it without that.

Watched '80s classic Miracle Mile with a friend of mine who'd never seen it before, one of those films that works better the less you know going in.  Really captures that nightmare feeling of everything just spinning out of your control, not knowing what's going on or what to do.  Killer score from Tangerine Dream too.

Watched an old 2000's movie recently, Lakeview Terrace. The movie about a corrupt cop played by Samuel L Jackson harassing an interracial couple. The movie had it's moments and while it is based off something that happened in real life, still found it incredibly unrealistic. The movie is mostly carried by Jackson being a terrifying villain.

Jackson usually does fine work in cheap movies like this.

As a big fan of Mike Mignola's comics and Guillermo del Toro's films, it's a shame to hear the new Hellboy is such a mess.  Not really surprising though, the writing was on the wall since del Toro started talking about a third film and was abruptly shut down by the studio.  Pretty much the only reason I had any hope for it was Neil Marshal directing, I've enjoyed his earlier work a lot; ah well.  Supposedly production was a nightmare, sounds like another case of a potentially good film going off the rails because the producers think they can spin it into their own personal MCU.

Hellboy was not great.  It lacked pacing and needed better editing.  Some scenes were totally unnecessary while others which were important to the story were rushed. Also some of the CGI characters were disappointing after the del Toro movies which focused more on real costumes.

Also saw Shazam. There were a few small details that bothered me, but the didn't really effect the film or my overall enjoyment of it.

John Wick 3 - Really enjoyed it.  I feel like they can get one more movie out of it, but should stop after that. Fight scenes are getting more and more crazy but at certain point it will be too over the top (Fast & Furious franchise).

Halloween (2018) - Rewatching it, I liked it just as much as when I saw it the first time.  One of the best Halloween movies.  I'm fine with retconning everything so this was just a followup to the original.

Brightburn - I enjoyed it.  Be warned that there are some really gory and hard to watch scenes.  I feel about Brightburn the same way I do about the original Purge movie, the premise is amazing but the film making itself could have been better.  This movie just makes me want an Injustice movie or series to be done by DC.

Title: Re: Movies Talk! What have you watched lately?
Post by: MiamiLyfe on June 08, 2019, 09:52:18 PM
Rocketman- Has it's flaws but it was a fun movie that I enjoyed it better than Bohemian Rhapsody. I look forward to it being made into a Broadway play in a few years.  Just like The Greatest Showman, Rocketman seems like a movie that was made to be turned into a play.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix- While not great it is not as bad as I thought it would be.  Sophie Turner did the best she could with the movie, and the fight scene on the train up until Jessica Chastain character shows up is pretty cool.  Initial reaction is that this was better than Last Stand.  Also with this X-Men series and Game of Thrones both over, hopefully this isn't the end of redhead Sophie Turner. Redhead Sophie Turner is the best Sophie Turner.

I am Mother- Scifi Netflix movie that was good enough. Ending felt kind of rushed.

Always Be My Maybe- Netflix romcom that I really enjoyed up until the stereotypical stupid speech at the end. Also it has an amazing celeb cameo that might be one of my favorite cameos in while.  Don't want to give anything away but it is Neil Patrick Harris in Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle good.  If you like Crazy Rich Asians you will probably like this.

Watched Spiderman FFH about 10 days ago, which for the most part I enjoyed much more than Homecoming and after that I was able to catch a 5th viewing of Endgame (with the extra additions), which whilst it was a nice tribute to Stan Lee and an airing of an unfinished Hulk scene (rightfully cut from the film) it wasn't enough extra incentive to get people to go out en masse and help it finally take the box office record from Avatar.

The one thing it did do though with its ending is get me a bit nostalgic, so I dug out and re-watched CA: The First Avenger and was reminded what a great origin film it is with its era appropriate storyline/characters and how much I want Marvel to do a limited series of Peggy & Steve's adventures in that timeline he created/lived through after putting the stones back.

Toy Story 4 - I was not a fan of the idea of adding another movie to the series, but the movie was really really good.  It felt organic and like a good next step.  I do hope they stop after this one though.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - Good movie, really truly enjoyed it, but it's not the masterpiece that some people are making it out to be.   Tarantino's foot fetish is also on full display in it, and as someone who doesn't like feet I didn't care for some of those shots..

Spider-man Far From Home - LOVED IT! Thought it was great.  Also, the after credit scenes are totally mindblowing.

Hobbs and Shaw - Leave your brain at the door, and it's a fun movie.  I mean the fact that anyone walks away from half the stuff is ridiculous. Also, Ryan Reynolds might be my favorite part of the movie.

Batman: Hush - Really enjoyed it.  I think it would be a great comic arc to be adapted to the big screen but would have to be the 3rd or 4th movie in the franchise.  Feels like it would need a good amount of universe set up.

Glass - Was disappointed by it in theaters but rewatching it, it wasn't that bad a movie.

I watched Brightburn and it was good. I'm hoping they do a sequel, maybe adding another superpowered being.

The Intruder was just your ordinary stereotypical kind of movie and ended up being funny rather than horror. That movie sucked but Dennis Quaid as the psycho was very entertaining.

Title: Re: Movies Talk! What have you watched lately?
Post by: MiamiLyfe on October 15, 2019, 12:07:29 AM
El Camino - I enjoyed it and thought it made a nice epilogue to Breaking Bad.

The Joker - Well made, well-acted, I liked it when I left the theater, but the more I have thought about it the more I disliked the movie.  I don't see him as the true "JOKER", I didn't care for the possible fake-out at the end, and some other things as well.

Hustlers - Better than I expected, though any J-Lo Oscar talk is crazy.  If anyone gets any kind of acting nomination it should be Constance Wu.  I also was really disappointed not to get any stripper outfits or dancing scenes from Lili.

Child's Play - Not a bad updated remake.  Though wish they kept the soul of a killer in the doll part rather than make it some Evil A.I.

Aladin - Enjoyable and better than I expected.

The Lion King - Billy Eichner's Timon was the best part of the movie. I liked this movie, but that is because I really like the original movie and this was a near shot for shot remake at times.

Anna - I feel like I have seen this movie several times before, and I've seen it done better than this.

MIB International - Why? Who wanted this movie?

The Hustle - Movie is a female remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Just go watch Dirty Rotten Scoundrels instead.

Ma - Not that bad actually.

Yesterday - Loved it.  Everyone once in a while you see a trailer for a small independent movie and think "I hope that is good" and thankfully Yesterday did live up to my hope for it.

Godzilla King Of The Monsters - I really enjoyed it, but I am a sucker for just about all Godzilla movies.  I really enjoy them.

Ad Astra - Just a beautiful picture to watch on the big screen.  The story was decent, but it was the cinematography I'll remember more than anything from the movie.
Title: Re: Movies Talk! What have you watched lately?
Post by: MiamiLyfe on October 15, 2019, 08:38:33 PM
Angel Has Fallen - Not good.  Very predictable and suffers from the same loophole that Taken 3 where the character who should be pretty smart runs at the exact moment that they shouldn't making things needlessly complicated.

Stuber - Way better and more enjoyable than you'd ever think it would be.

Gemini Man - Entertaining but could have been much better.  They relied a little too heavily on CGI for some of the action scenes.  It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if someone like a Tom Cruise who is more willing to do real stunts had been cast.  Also, I think the movie could have said something interesting about Nature vs. Nurture but they largely just balked at it.

Saw The Irishman in a packed theater yesterday and it lives up to the hype. Be warned, it's 3 and 1/2 hours and at times it moves slowly, but none of it's filler. You always feel as if it's that long because Scorsese needed it to be. Every scene, every line carries emotional weight (Never has a cast gotten more meaning out of repeating the line "it is what it is" the way this one does.)

The de-aging FX are convincing, though it's odd how the 'younger' De Niro, even though he looks the proper age, doesn't really resemble our memories of what De Niro actually looked like in his 30's and 40's.

The performances by De Niro, Pesci, and Pacino are peerless. Pacino is especially memorable. His Jimmy Hoffa almost becomes the film's tragic hero, a determined fool who doesn't know how to stop. Stephen Graham as Tony Provenzano is brilliant, too. And that's Jim Norton as Don Rickles and Steven Van Zandt (under a silver wig) lipsyncing as Jerry Vale.

But most of the jokes were solid, action was phenomenal, acting just as high quality as the previous, but maybe just needed a little more time to slow down and talk properly like in the beginning. 9/10 would watch again.  :Y:

Watched TROS Thursday & Friday - I enjoyed it very much (especially more on the second viewing), great action and a liberal sprinkling of nods to the og trilogy along with some great don't blink cameos (both visual and verbal - one of which I am so glad was done for a living legend whose contibution to the franchise is immense) and some lump in your throat moments (Leia's scenes & Chewie's reaction) especially.

No film is perfect and yes there were some things that could have been done better and some things that didn't get answered and/or needed fleshing out more storywise but overall JJ did a very good job of putting a bow on the Skywalker Saga whilst also leaving us in a place where we could revist new adventures for Rey, Finn & Poe (maybe in 10 years time or so) if they wanted to.

Alright, my turn to review Rise of Skywalker

It sets a theme of keeping to retcon everything episode 8 had to say by essentially writing out each plot hole Rian Johnson had made, the plot, good but leans to the one point I keep hearing about it: it's a fan fiction film. Bringing up all these things fans have been wanting to see for years and leads to a climax that, while nice to see all these blink and you'll miss it cameos, they just don't do anything with them. Without giving anything away the trailers made it look like the final act would be this massive battle filled with all sorts of chaos and action set pieces, but it felt like the climax fight scene in the force awakens, all show but not as exciting as I hoped it to be.

In the end, I liked it, I enjoyed the fan service they provided and liked the ending just as much, but for substance in plot...it's not the ending to the saga we were expecting, but it's definitely better than what we feared, perfect? No. Good? Absolutely.

8.5/10 best experience if you've seen the other 8 films at least once each.

I watched the cop drama Black and Blue and while it's pretty generic, I still enjoyed it.

Alright, Troop Zero, let's go!

This is a Amazon original movie that just came out yesterday my time zone and it's the weirdest coming of age story you could ever watch and I loved every second of it. The plot surrounds a girl named Christmas, who lives in a semi rural city in 1970's Georgia that's fascinated with space and the aliens and it's sort of an outcast for not acting like a regular girl. One day she hears about a contest for a group called the Birdies, (think Girl Scouts basically) where at this years Birdie scout Jubilee the winning troop will get to add a message to the golden record. An actual NASA project where they sent a record made of gold into space in hopes of life finding it one day. Christmas wants to get on the record but there's a problem, it's a birdie scout contest, and the local troop are stuck up brats who despise her, troop leader included. So she makes a rag tag team of other misfits to make her own birdie scout troop. Her one friend Joseph, who's a very flamboyant boy, a Christian girl named Anne-Claire, a rebel girl named Hell-No and her odd friend Smash, and a troop mother who wants more than anything at first to be as far away from this as possible, will they get into the Jubilee? Or will this gang of social outcasts be just as bad as everyone says they are...

So yeah some of this stuff has been done many times before, a bunch of underdogs going up against a group of bullies and yeah, technically you're right. But you need to know the context...all the kid characters, are actual kids, middle school aged kids actually, not some mid 20 something baby faces that pretend to be younger. The entire group give strong performances as well so you feel their pain when they stumble and laugh at their attempts, Smash in particular is fun to watch, the entire film she only has one line, and the rest is grunts and yells and smashing things it's quite fun seeing her character develop strictly in expressions alone. But what makes this film different from other movies of similar themes? Well a maybe 12 year old with the nickname Hell-No could give you a idea. There's cussing, fighting, mixed personalities clashing with one another, it's definitely not a simple kids movie, but mature enough to not be a trashy teen comedy either.

Then comes the Jubilee...oh good Lord. How do I speak about it without spoilers...it doesn't go the traditional route of a big climax like the Championship game or the final two competitors going head to head. In fact, it takes such a massive right turn that it's both, surprising, predictable if you caught onto foreshadowing, and just a uniquely bizarre resolution that I dare not say more so it can be experienced by you guys if you ever check it out.

The conclusion of this film, I loved it, absolutely loved it. From start to finish I had a stupid grin on my face just seeing everything play out, it doesn't fall victim to stereotypes, if anything it embraces them in a new way, and if you were the odd ball at school back in your day, have I got a little film for you..

10/10 first favorite movie of the new year.

Watched Cop Land recently. Can't believe I never seen this movie as it had an all star cast for 1998. Featuring Stallone, DeNiro, Harvey Kietel, Robert Patrick and even some other lesser famous actors like Frank Vincent having a part in it.

Great underrated movie. Pretty accurate depiction of small town police corruption and how they take over towns. Stallone can act, pretty surprised this movie was met with negative reception when it first came out.

A few movies I've been watching doing our quarantine time;

Bloodshot: Wasn't too bad. Not as much action as I thought would be in it.

Invisible Man: Saw it in theaters, but rented it again. A great movie  :Y:

Just Mercy: A great true story movie and I prefer Brie Larson was a blonde.

Been watching a lot of 80's and 90's action movies as well.

I watched Chris Hemsworth's new movie Extraction on Netflix and it was great in terms of action, but the story was a bit weak.

Sorry for necroing, but I reasoned it was best to use the existing movie-thread instead of creating another one.

Watched Ti West's X last week. I really liked that someone found back to making gritty and sleazy 70/80's horror movies again. It's nicely shot, it's got a great cast and has lots of gore (although I don't think it went nearly as far as it should). Since it's produced by A24 people will no doubt be expecting something "deeper", but it's a pretty straightforward slasher.

It stars Mia Goth, Jenna Ortega and Brittany Snow, and in style of the eighties "sexploitation" flicks X pays homeage to, they aren't afraid to show off their bodies.

Nightmare Beach

I'll never stop loving cheesy eighties slasher movies. So much fun and creativity, not to mention shameless fanservice. You can always bet on the killer having the weirdest motivations and murder weapons (an electric-chair motorcycle!).

With the news on James Caan's passing, I wanted to make a quick post about the movie 'Thief'.

Thief is a forgotten 1981 crime movie directed by Michael Mann (his first movie). It's probably more notable to synth nerds for the score by Tangerine Dream.

Caan plays a thief, as the title suggests. True to Michael Mann's style of film making, there's an incredible attention to detail with lighting and specific details that wouldn't catch your eye at first. Caan underwent firearms training to do this movie (before Mann produced Miami Vice and put his actors through that). The highlight of the film is the heist sequence which I won't spoil. The attention of detail comes up multiple times in this scene especially.

Willie Nelson and James Belushi are also in this movie. It's pretty funny to think that this movie came out 41 years ago and even back then Willie Nelson was being called an old man.

RIP James Caan, you will be missed.

This was fucking hardcore! If you're familiar with movies like Funny Games, Killing Ground and Eden Lake you should know what you're in for. It's the epitome of "feelbad" filmmaking that will destroy your soul and ruin your day.

It's very satirical though, and I suspect some of the aspects will fly over the heads of non-Scandinavian viewers, especially when it comes to character motivations and reactions of which I've already seen some criticism.

Everything I wanted from an Evil Dead movie. It's my favorite movie franchise, and they've yet to deliver a weak instalment.

Kind of a heartbreak too as the movie deals with a family-situation.
