Alright, ladies and gentlemen, the NBA preseason opens tonight in Houston, so this will be your one-stop shop for all things in the Association.

Suffice to say, this preseason has been a nightmare for the NBA, especially as far as its relationship with China has gone.  There has been a tense meeting with commissioner Adam Silver and the players.  One Lakers player lost a $1 million endorsement.  The players watched the banners being torn down.  Nets point guard Kyrie Irving questioned whether to play.

There goes the top pick.  Pelicans rookie small forward Zion Williamson is expected to miss 6-8 weeks after he had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee.

Last year's Finals will continue to hurt the Dubs.  Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told NBC Sports Bay Area that shooting guard Klay Thompson is unlikely to play this season as he recovers from a torn ACL.

Bad blood is spilling over.  The Timberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns and the 76ers' Joel Embiid got into a brawl that ended with the 76ers' Ben Simmons putting Towns in a headlock.  Updates to come.

The 76ers beat the Timberwolves, 117-95.

Justice came swiftly but not quite fairly, in my opinion.  The NBA suspended 76ers center Joel Embiid and Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns two games each for Wednesday's scuffle.  There was no fine or suspension for 76ers point guard Ben Simmons.

So the potential top prospect has a lot of free time on his hands.  The attorney for Memphis Tigers center James Wiseman, a possible No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, said that Wiseman has been ruled ineligible by the NCAA.

UPDATE:  This has been a story that's been moving at a quick pace.  Memphis said in a statement that Wiseman will play tonight against the UIC Flames after an emergency temporary restraining ordered was granted.

I can't believe the words I'm typing.  According to TMZ, NBA legend Kobe Bryant was among five people killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, Calif.

UPDATE:  No, just no.  According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Kobe Bryant was on his way to a travel basketball game with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant when their helicopter crashed.

UPDATE 2:  This reaction is the one that dug the most to me.  A tearful Dwyane Wade was overcome with emotion discussing the death of Kobe Bryant, calling it "a bad dream you just want to wake up from."

UPDATE 3:  We're learning more about this tragedy.  A source told ESPN that the helicopter carrying Kobe Bryant and eight other passengers was in a climb before a rapid dive.

It's for the well-being of the people, so I get that.  According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Warriors are planning to play their home games without fans for the foreseeable future amid the coronavirus outbreak.

UPDATE:  Well, now things have turned from bad to worse.  The NBA suspended the regular season and will use the hiatus to determine its next steps.

UPDATE 2:  This just makes it feel more real.  According to reports, the Jazz’s Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus, which led to the Jazz vs. Thunder game being postponed.

UPDATE 3:  This is the way the NBA season potentially ends, not with a bang, but with a whimper.  The Pelicans vs. Kings game was postponed.

On the bright side, this does clear the way for the NBA to resume the season with a full schedule.  Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe reached an agreement with IOC President Thomas Bach to postpone the Olympics for about a year.

UPDATE:  So there are more things to know.  The IOC officially postponed the 2020 Games.  They will be held "not later than summer 2021".  The 2020 Tokyo Olympics name remains.  The Olympic flame will stay in Fukushima, Japan.

Let's see how things go.  According to Adam Schefter and Adrian Wojnarowski, President Donald Trump spoke with 12 sports commissioners and hoped to have fans back in stadiums by August and September, adding that the NFL should start on time.  NBA commissioner Adam Silver said the leagues were the first to shut down and that they would love to lead the way in starting the economy once there was an "all clear" from public health officials.

I grew up with a family member involved in sports in ways that allowed us to get a TON of tickets, autographs, etc.

I was never a Jordan fan, but when those around me were watching Bulls games, I LOVED to watch (& root for) Kerr and Kukoc.

Dig this: Thought I recalled getting a jersey for 1 of the two of them when I went to a game (back before Lebron made my local team &/or my Lakers unwatchable)... Not there now, but I have them for Marc Price, "Sir Charles", Dan Majerle (when he was on a Dream Team), & Kevin Johnson.

Just popping in to say fuck the Clippers!

We heard all summer long how they were some unbeatable juggernaut for signing Kawhi, Paul George and were coached by the only coach with multiple blown 3-1 playoff series leads.

I have to wonder, did Ballmer pay the media to hype them up like this? Cause all through the regular season they did not look like they were unbeatable and then they choke hard in the playoffs. And they were one of the most unbearable, arrogant teams in recent memory. From the marketing campaign to them being hyped up non-stop in the sports media, to the players themselves talking like they already had won the Finals when this team has never made it past the 2nd round.

Playoff P with 10 points and Kawhi with 14 in an elimination game. BEST DUO EVER.

And LOL at Kawhi for saying the Raptors roster was not good enough to repeat. He looked at that roster, saw all those playmakers and figured nah, give me Paul George instead.

Good riddance!

UPDATE:  My, how the turn tables.  The Lakers lead the Heat, 65-48, at the half.  The Lakers trailed by as many as 13, have made 11 three-pointers and James has nine points, six rebounds and seven assists.  The Heat’s Jimmy Butler has 16 points and four assists.

UPDATE 2:  I hope this is the eighth time.  The Lakers ran away with a 116-98 Game 1 win over the Heat.  The Lakers are 62-7 in series after a Game 1 win in Minneapolis Lakers/Los Angeles Lakers history and James had 25 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists.

Well, I'm not surprised he was in high demand.  According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Doc Rivers reached an agreement on a deal to become the head coach of the 76ers.

Bad pick by the Sixers. Vogel in LA won as many playoff series this year as Doc did in 7 years with the Clippers. Wonder if Philly will end up having a fire sale in the future when that ship goes down.

There is no need for hyperbole to stress the importance of this game.  The Heat are playing the Lakers in Game 2 of the NBA Finals.  The Lakers’ LeBron James and Anthony Davis had 59 points in Game 1.  The Heat’s Bam Adebayo and Goran Dragić are out.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  I do not like this.  The Lakers cruised 2-0 Finals lead with a 124-114 win over the Heat.  James has his first 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals and combined with Davis for 65 points and 23 rebounds.

Let's see if this game will turn things around.  The Lakers are playing the Heat in Game 3 of the NBA Finals.  The Lakers' LeBron James and Anthony Davis had 65 points in Game 2.  The Heat's Jimmy Butler had 25 points and 13 rebounds in Game 2.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  We're in for an exciting finish.  Butler has 32 points and the Heat are hanging tough with a 101-96 lead over the Lakers with 4:40 remaining in the fourth quarter.

UPDATE:  The series is getting more interesting.  The Heat got a crucial 115-104 win and trail the Lakers, 2-1.  Butler dropped a 40-point triple-double and Kelly Olynyk scored 17 points off the bench.  James and Davis combined for 18 turnovers.

This game will be huge for the future of the series.  The Lakers are playing the Heat in Game 4 of the NBA Finals with a 2-1 lead.  The Heat’s Jimmy Butler had 40 points and a triple-double in Game 3.  The Lakers’ LeBron James has 27.7 PPG and 10.7 RPG in the series.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  This one will be a nail-biter.  The Lakers lead the Heat, 75-70, at the start of the fourth quarter of Game 4 of the NBA Finals.

UPDATE 2:  This is not good!  The Lakers took a 3-1 Finals by beating the Heat 102-96.  James and Anthony Davis 50 points with 34 coming in the second half.  Butler had 22 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists.

Hopefully, an epic comeback starts tonight.  Game 5 of the NBA Finals between the Heat and Lakers, who seek their 17th title in Minneapolis Lakers/Los Angeles Lakers history, is on now.  The Lakers can tie the Celtics for the most titles and LeBron James has 28 PPG and 11 RPG in the Finals.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  This one might come down to the wire.  The Heat lead the Lakers, 88-82, at the start of the fourth quarter, needing a win to force Game 6 and extend the NBA Finals.

UPDATE 2:  The season is not over yet!  The Heat’s Jimmy Butler delivered a legendary 111-108 Game 5 win over the Lakers by sinking the go-ahead free throws with 17 seconds left to cap a 35-point triple-double.  Game 6 will be on Sunday in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

I'm over here hoping for one more day of the NBA.  Game 6 of the NBA Finals is on as the Lakers look for a title and the Heat look to force Game 7.  The Lakers are 4-0 after a loss this postseason.  The Heat's Jimmy Butler has 29 PPG and 10 APG in the Finals.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  I absolutely hate this, but they deserved it and that was for Kobe and Gianna.  The Lakers won their 17th NBA championship in Minneapolis Lakers/Los Angeles Lakers history by beating the Heat, 106-93.  The Lakers tied the Celtics for the most titles won and LeBron James had his 28th playoff triple-double.

UPDATE 2:  The G.O.A.T. reigns supreme again.  James won his fourth Finals MVP, trailing only Hornets owner Michael Jordan's six for the most in NBA history.
