While we were gone, we lost the amazing Norman Lloyd, original member of Orson Welles' Mercury Theater, actor and collaborator with Alfred Hitchcock, Charlie Chaplin, and Jean Renoir, television star (St. Elsewhere), and active in film and television until age 100. He left us on May 11th at the age of 106. RIP

Robert Downey Sr., iconic filmmaker of breakthrough anti-establishment classic films such as “Putney Swope” and “Greaser’s Palace,” died early Wednesday morning in his sleep at his home in New York City, his wife told the Daily News exclusively.

Downey, who turned 85 last month and had been battling Parkinson’s disease, also appeared in the movies “Boogie Nights,” “Magnolia,” and “To Live And Die in L.A.”

Sad news just in. ZZ Top's Dusty Hill has died, aged 72.

"You will be missed greatly, amigo," say the band as they pay tribute to their bassist of 50 years

"We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, Texas," said the band's surviving members, Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard.

"We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top'. We will forever be connected to that 'Blues Shuffle in C.'”

No cause of death was revealed in the band's statement. The band played their first performances without Hill in more than 50 years earlier this month, claiming that Hill had a hip problem.

I was lucky enough to see them live five times over the years. Their sound never got old. RIP Dusty.
