I am a little late for this one, but better late than never.  The Yankees’ Gerrit Cole will undergo Tommy John surgery and miss the 2025 season.  This comes as the Yankees beat the Tigers, 10-2.

I hate having to talk about these types of stories.  Fifteen-year MLB vet Octavio Dotel, who was 51, died on the way to a hospital after a nightclub roof collapse in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

This is absolutely terrifying.  A fan is in critical condition after falling from the 21-foot Clemente Wall at PNC Park during the Pirates’ 4-3 win over the Cubs.

I feel terrible for this person.  The fan who fell onto the field at a Pirates game told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review he remains in pain and described his injuries as “broken everything.”  This comes as the Pirates lost to the Cardinals, 6-0.

I never thought this day would come, but these guys could get plaques in Cooperstown as soon as 2028.  Pete Rose, Shoeless Joe Jackson and others were removed from MLB’s banned list.

Well, I think the season is over in Beantown.  According to FanSided, the Red Sox traded three-time All-Star Rafael Devers to the Giants for hard-throwing righty Jordan Hicks and others.  This comes as the Red Sox beat the Yankees, 2-0.  Updates to come.

I wish he was sent behind bars right away.  The Rays’ Wander Franco’s two-year prison sentence was suspended after he was found guilty of sexual abuse of a minor in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.  This comes as the Rays beat the Royals, 4-0.

This is the Bronx Bombers’ slump summed up in a nutshell.  The Yankees’ Aaron Judge was bloodied after he was hit in the face by a throw from teammate Anthony Volpe in a 12-6 loss to the Mets.

Who wants bonus baseball?  The MLB All-Star Game heading to its first-ever swing-off after the American League’s Steven Kwan tied the score in the ninth.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  I may be proven wrong in the future, but that was fun.  Kyle Schwarber’s three homers delivered the win for the National League in the first All-Star Game to be decided by a swing-off as the NL tied the American League, 6-6, with the NL lifting the trophy on a home run swing-off tiebreaker, 4-3.

I love when history is made in this game.  The Athletics’ Nick Kurtz became the first rookie and 20th player in MLB history to have a four-homer game and the second player with 19 total bases, joining Shawn Green, in a 15-3 win over the Astros.

It is amazing how unpopular the commissioner is.  According to Jeff Passan, Bryce Harper cussed out MLB commissioner Rob Manfred and told Manfred to “get the fuck out” over the salary cap during a meeting with the Phillies.  Updates to come.

The Phillies lost to the White Sox, 6-2.

Talk about losing your cool.  The Mariners’ Victor Robles threw his bat at a pitcher and tried to charge the mound after being hit by a pitch during a rehab game.  This comes as the Mariners lost to the Mets, 7-3.

Watching baseballs fly has been fun this season.  The Phillies’ Kyle Schwarber hit four Schwarbombs and is suddenly at 49 dingers, one behind Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh’s 50 for the MLB lead, in a 19-4 win over the Braves.

The fact he pulled this off playing at home at pitcher-friendly T-Mobile Park is very impressive.  The Mariners’ Cal Raleigh went yard twice to become the fourth player in AL history with a 60-homer season in a 9-2 win over the Rockies.

This might be a season-saving grab.  Noelvi Marte stretched over the wall for an unreal home run robbery in the ninth inning as the Reds topped the Pirates, 2-1, in a crucial game for their playoff hopes.

The two best words in sports come into play tomorrow.  The Dodgers forced Game 7 on Saturday in Toronto as Mookie Betts broke out of his slump and Tyler Glasnow closed the door on the Blue Jays’ rally for a 3-1 win.  What looked like a potential game-tying hit turned into a game-ending double play for the Dodgers.

This is the last game of the season and tempers are at their highest.  The Blue Jays and Dodgers got into it after the Blue Jays’ Andrés Giménez was hit on the hand with a fastball.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  We need more than nine innings to decide the world champion.  We’re going to the 10th in Game 7 after the Dodgers’ Miguel Rojas’ tying homer in the ninth.

UPDATE 2:  Somebody play “I Love L.A.” by Randy Newman or “Kernkraft 400” by Zombie Nation!  The Dodgers beat the Blue Jays, 5-4, in 11 innings to become the first repeat champions since 2000.

UPDATE 3:  This was one of the best individual performances in a championship series.  The Dodgers’ Yoshinobu Yamamoto was named World Series MVP after allowing two runs in two starts and closing out Game 7 with a win.
