Title: NFL 2025
Post by: InThe313 on July 31, 2025, 05:59:10 AM
Welcome back to the gridiron.  After an incredible season last year, we’ll have our first taste of the NFL tonight in Canton, Ohio.  This will be your spot for news and notes throughout the year.  Just remember to be respectful and have fun.

Welcome back to football!  The NFL is back as the preseason is kicking off now with the Chargers playing the Lions.  Updates to come.

The Chargers beat the Lions, 34-7.

I am so terrified right now.  The Lions vs. Falcons preseason game ended with the Lions winning, 17-10, after the Lions’ Morice Norris was taken off the field in an ambulance with a serious injury.

The season has not started yet and tempers are already flaring.  The Panthers’ Xavier Legette and the Browns’ Rayshawn Jenkins were ejected after trading blows in a 30-10 Browns win.

I forgot about the NFL connection to this story when it broke, so here it is.  According to Pete Thamel and Dan Wetzel, Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh was given a 10-year show-cause penalty from the NCAA for the Michigan sign-stealing scandal.  Additionally, Michigan was fined more than $20 million, Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore was suspended three games and Connor Stalions was given an eight-year show-cause penalty.

With 10 days left until the NFL season, I was wondering who would be your No. 1 pick for your fantasy team.  Mine would be Saquon Barkley.

I do not like this at all.  According to Adam Schefter, defensive end Micah Parsons was traded from the Cowboys to the Packers and agreed on a four-year, $188 million contract that made Parsons the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.

UPDATE:  Actually, in my slightly biased mind, this seems like a trade where both teams will win.  According to Schefter, the Cowboys received defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round picks for Parsons.

This has absolutely no place in the game.  The Eagles’ Jalen Carter was ejected for spitting on the Cowboys’ Dak Prescott during an injury delay.  Updates to come.

The Eagles beat the Cowboys, 24-20.

What a thriller tonight in Orchard Park!  The Bills staged a frenzied Sunday night comeback to beat the Ravens, 41-40, on a field goal as time expired.

UPDATE:  I hate when things like this happen.  A spectator hit the Ravens’ Lamar Jackson and DeAndre Hopkins on the helmet and Jackson hit the spectator back.

My favorite weekly tradition has returned.  The Vikings are playing the Bears on “Monday Night Football”.  The Vikings’ J. J. McCarthy is making his debut.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  Oh, this is fun!  The Vikings’ Justin Jefferson caught a 13-yard touchdown with 12:13 left to cut the deficit against the Bears to 17-12.

The Vikings beat the Bears, 27-24.

Here is a little wrinkle for today’s game.  According to Adam Schefter, the Ravens planned to draft the Browns’ Shedeur Sanders, but Sanders wanted to be drafted elsewhere.  Updates to come.

The Ravens beat the Browns, 41-17.

Who is ready for a double-dip?  We have two “Monday Night Football” games tonight.  Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers are playing C. J. Stroud and the Texans now.  The Chargers are playing the Raiders at 10 p.m.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  An old Stanford vs. USC rivalry is about to come to the pros.  Head coaches Jim Harbaugh and Pete Carroll are meeting again as the Chargers face the Raiders in the desert on “Monday Night Football”.

Double your football, double your fun.  We are getting double the “Monday Night Football “ tonight with the Jets playing the Dolphins right now.  The Bengals will play the Broncos at 8:15 p.m.  The Jets and Dolphins are both seeking their first win.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  I hate saying things like this.  Dolphins star Tyreek Hill was carted to the locker room with an apparent serious leg injury.

The Dolphins beat the Jets, 27-21.
The Broncos beat the Bengals, 28-3.

What a thriller today in Glendale!  How do you go from making an interception to allowing a touchdown in seconds?  The Cardinals and Titans found for the wackiest touchdown of 2025.  The Titans beat the Cardinals, 22-21.

Are you ready for it?  The Chiefs are playing the Jaguars on “Monday Night Football”.  The Chiefs have eight straight wins in the series.

UPDATE:  Great way to stay calm and not panic.  The Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence tripped in the worst spot possible, but somehow recovered to run for the winning touchdown against the Chiefs for a 31-28 win.

Oh, his career has to be over.  Mark Sanchez is now facing a felony battery charge over an altercation on Saturday.  A punishment could range from 1-6 years in prison.

Oh, no, this is not a suspension this team needs.  The Lions’ Brian Branch hit the Chiefs’ JuJu Smith-Schuster in the face as the clock was winding down, sparking a scuffle at Arrowhead Stadium.  The Chiefs beat the Lions, 30-17.
