It’s about to rain baseballs in Hotlanta.  The Home Run Derby is on now.  Mariners catcher and MLB home run leader Cal Raleigh, who has 38, is competing.  The field also includes Nationals left fielder James Wood, Twins center fielder Byron Buxton and Rays third baseman Junior Caminero.  Updates to come.

Raleigh beat Caminero in the finals, 18-15.

Who wants bonus baseball?  The MLB All-Star Game heading to its first-ever swing-off after the American League’s Steven Kwan tied the score in the ninth.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  I may be proven wrong in the future, but that was fun.  Kyle Schwarber’s three homers delivered the win for the National League in the first All-Star Game to be decided by a swing-off as the NL tied the American League, 6-6, with the NL lifting the trophy on a home run swing-off tiebreaker, 4-3.

I love when history is made in this game.  The Athletics’ Nick Kurtz became the first rookie and 20th player in MLB history to have a four-homer game and the second player with 19 total bases, joining Shawn Green, in a 15-3 win over the Astros.

It is amazing how unpopular the commissioner is.  According to Jeff Passan, Bryce Harper cussed out MLB commissioner Rob Manfred and told Manfred to “get the fuck out” over the salary cap during a meeting with the Phillies.  Updates to come.

The Phillies lost to the White Sox, 6-2.

Who says you can’t go home?  According to Jeff Passan, the Twins are trading shortstop Carlos Correa to the Astros.

Talk about losing your cool.  The Mariners’ Victor Robles threw his bat at a pitcher and tried to charge the mound after being hit by a pitch during a rehab game.  This comes as the Mariners lost to the Mets, 7-3.

Watching baseballs fly has been fun this season.  The Phillies’ Kyle Schwarber hit four Schwarbombs and is suddenly at 49 dingers, one behind Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh’s 50 for the MLB lead, in a 19-4 win over the Braves.
