I can’t believe it took me this long to open an MLB thread but here it is and with a huge game to boot.  The Rays are facing the Athletics in the AL wild-card game.  The pitching match-up is the Rays’ Charlie Morton against the Athletics’ Sean Manaea.  The winner will face the Astros in the ALDS beginning on Friday in Houston.  Updates to come.

The Rays beat the Athletics, 5-1.

There goes my pick to win it all.  The Nationals shocked the Dodgers, 7-3, in 10 innings in Game 5.  The Nationals’ Howie Kendrick has a 10th-inning grand slam.  The Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw allowed back-to-back home runs.  The Nationals will play in the NLCS beginning on Friday in St. Louis against the Cardinals after their 13-1 win over the Braves.

The wild card team is staying in the fight.  The Nationals beat the Cardinals, 7-4, to advance to their first World Series.  The Nationals never trailed in the four-game sweep and Patrick Corbin had five innings pitched, four earned runs and 12 strikeouts.  The Cardinals' Dakota Hudson had 1/3 of an inning pitched, seven runs and four earned runs.

What a thriller tonight in Houston!  The Astros walked off to the World Series by beating the Yankees, 6-4.  The Astros' José Altuve had a walk-off two-run home run in the ninth and the team won the World Series in 2017.  Game 1 against the Nationals is on Tuesday in Houston.

Round 1 goes to the underdogs.  The Nationals took Game 1 of the World Series by beating the Astros, 5-4.  The Nationals’ Juan Soto became the second youngest player with a home run in his World Series debut.  The Astros’ Gerrit Cole suffered his first loss since May 22.  Game 2 is on Wednesday in Houston.

Tomorrow is do or die.  The World Series is going to Game 7 on Wednesday in Houston after the Nationals beat the Astros, 7-2.  The Nationals’ Stephen Strasburg went 8.1 innings and Anthony Rendon had five RBIs.
