It's never a good sign in sports when ancient Greek mythology is referenced.  Multiple sources told ESPN that Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers will miss the remainder of the season after an MRI confirmed a torn Achilles.

Aaron Rodgers injury comes in week 1. Back in 1999, the Jets were SB favorites coming off a great year. Vinny Testeverde blew his Achilles in the 2nd quarter, crushing their SB hopes. Chad Pennington also suffered career altering injuries as soon as he looked good.

Judging by the play last night, the Jets offensive line is awful and was a problem last year. Next week they have to deal with Micah Parsons and a scary Dallas defensive line. The spread on that game is going to go over 7+ if it hasn't already.

All that hard work went for nothing!  Russell Wilson's unreal and improbable 50-yard Hail Mary touchdown as time expired was not enough as the Broncos' two-point conversion failed against the Commanders in a 35-33 loss.

All that hard work went for nothing!  Russell Wilson's unreal and improbable 50-yard Hail Mary touchdown as time expired was not enough as the Broncos' two-point conversion failed against the Commanders in a 35-33 loss.

And they're blaming the refs. That game went so similar to the 2018 non-call game, it's hilarious.

Denver was up 21-3 and blew that lead to go down 24-35. That hail mary will look good on Russ' stat sheet, even though he couldn't do anything apart from his 3 bombs that fell and accounted for 150+ yards. Payton is calling games like he did in 2021 when he didn't want Jameis Winston throwing the ball much cause he couldn't trust him. I see the same thing with Wilson, whom he isn't going to be able to fix for the same he couldn't fix Winston.

Sean Payton is now 10-9 since Drew Brees retired.
I am amazed at how much this team resembles the Saints. You have all the boneheaded penalties, dirty hits on defense, and an offense that has a bunch of mediocre guys he thinks he can develop. Trautman was awful in NOLA which don't surprise me how bad he looks in Denver.

Broncos fans, welcome to the Sean Payton ride. He is a rock star headcoach. When the team is winning, everything is awesome and you love him despite him being an egotistical douche. When they're losing, get ready to hear about how it's all the refs fault, and lack of accountability on the team. He's already got the players blaming the refs for yesterday when they needed a miracle to even be in that position to try and tie for OT.

That game reminded me so much of the 2018 non-call game. The Saints were up 10-0, and then 20-10, and it took a miracle bomb pass by Brees to even get them in the red zone prior to the non-call. Everything became about the non-call and crying about the refs. No one wanted to take accountability for blowing a 10 point lead twice and all the sloppy play. Denver was up 21-3 at one point and should've never trailed by 11. This is what Sean Payton coached teams do. None of this surprises me. Drew Brees made him, not the other way around.

Strap your butts into a chair.  We're getting double the "Monday Night Football".  The Saints are playing the Panthers right now.  At 8:15 p.m., the Browns will play the Steelers.

The Saints beat the Panthers, 20-17.

UPDATE:  I hate seeing so many serious injuries this early in the season.  Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said Nick Chubb is out for the season with a significant knee injury.  The Browns lost to the Steelers, 26-22.

That was a painful game to watch.

I am still not sold on the Saints. They are 2-0 barely beating bad teams. They barely beat the Titans by 1 point, and 3 points against a rookie QB with a bad team.

Derek Carr plays like he is scared to get hit, and generally is trash. I've never seen a 9 year veteran starting QB with worse footwork. They paid this man 150 million to play like ass for most of the game.

This looks like a team who is going to run into a buzz saw when they finally play a decent team, and just get thoroughly undressed and exposed. The defense has to play like a legendary unit to just barely win games cause their 150 million dollar QB can't get it done. Taysom Hill extended drives tonight leading to their 2 TDs. They should've just went with Hill and saved all that money.

Was this a real game or did somebody post their "Madden 24" score?  Tua Tagovailoa had four touchdown as the Dolphins recorded the fourth 70-point game in NFL history in a 70-20 rout of the Broncos.

I ship it!  Taylor Swift took up the Chiefs' Travis Kelce's invitation and is at Arrowhead Stadium watching the Bears play the Chiefs with Travis' mom, Donna Kelce.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  She must really like him.  Swift was hyped and got on her feet to celebrate Travis Kelce’s touchdown in the Chiefs’ 41-10 win against the Bears.
