All that hard work went for nothing! Russell Wilson's unreal and improbable 50-yard Hail Mary touchdown as time expired was not enough as the Broncos' two-point conversion failed against the Commanders in a 35-33 loss.
And they're blaming the refs. That game went so similar to the 2018 non-call game, it's hilarious.
Denver was up 21-3 and blew that lead to go down 24-35. That hail mary will look good on Russ' stat sheet, even though he couldn't do anything apart from his 3 bombs that fell and accounted for 150+ yards. Payton is calling games like he did in 2021 when he didn't want Jameis Winston throwing the ball much cause he couldn't trust him. I see the same thing with Wilson, whom he isn't going to be able to fix for the same he couldn't fix Winston.
Sean Payton is now 10-9 since Drew Brees retired.
I am amazed at how much this team resembles the Saints. You have all the boneheaded penalties, dirty hits on defense, and an offense that has a bunch of mediocre guys he thinks he can develop. Trautman was awful in NOLA which don't surprise me how bad he looks in Denver.
Broncos fans, welcome to the Sean Payton ride. He is a rock star headcoach. When the team is winning, everything is awesome and you love him despite him being an egotistical douche. When they're losing, get ready to hear about how it's all the refs fault, and lack of accountability on the team. He's already got the players blaming the refs for yesterday when they needed a miracle to even be in that position to try and tie for OT.
That game reminded me so much of the 2018 non-call game. The Saints were up 10-0, and then 20-10, and it took a miracle bomb pass by Brees to even get them in the red zone prior to the non-call. Everything became about the non-call and crying about the refs. No one wanted to take accountability for blowing a 10 point lead twice and all the sloppy play. Denver was up 21-3 at one point and should've never trailed by 11. This is what Sean Payton coached teams do. None of this surprises me. Drew Brees made him, not the other way around.
