NBA 2024-25
« on: October 04, 2024, 06:28:14 AM »
A new season begins today with a preseason action in… Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates?  Is this a prank?  No?  Okay.  Anyway, let’s hope for a fun season.  Feel free to post here and, of course, be respectful.

My posts from the last couple of days were accidentally deleted while taking care of my browser history.  Anyway, during the Sunday’s preseason loss to the Suns, the Lakers’ LeBron James and Bronny James became the first father and son to play together in a game.

When the best men’s players in the world are going nuts for your shot, you know it’s something special.  Suns power forward Kevin Durant, Mavericks point guard Luka Dončić and others from the basketball world reacted to the New York Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu’s game-winning three in the WNBA Finals, calling her a cold blooded killer.

It’s finally time for the regular season to start and there are two games tonight worthy of national TV coverage.  The Opening Night schedule:

New York Knicks at Boston Celtics tonight at 7:30 p.m.
Minnesota Timberwolves at Los Angeles Lakers tonight at 10 p.m.

Here is a moment for the history books.  The Lakers’ LeBron James and Bronny James became the first father-son duo to grace NBA hardwood in a regular-season game.  Updates to come.

The Lakers beat the Timberwolves, 110-103.

This is a little shocking and maybe a little justified.  Shams Charania is reporting that the 76ers’ Joel Embiid shoved a columnist over an article that referenced Embiid’s son and late brother.  This comes as the 76ers lost to the Grizzlies, 124-107.

You cannot forget how good this guy is when he’s on his game.  The Grizzlies’ Ja Morant pulled off not one but two ridiculous 360 buckets.  Updates to come.

The Grizzlies lost to the Nets, 106-104.

I am sure this is a punishment he will take in stride.  The NBA suspended 76ers center Joel Embiid three games for shoving a member of the media on Saturday.

Bam!  The Warriors’ Stephen Curry screamed at a camera after nailing a clutch step-back trey to spoil the Mavericks’ Klay Thompson’s return to the Bay, 120-117.

Perhaps it is for the best for now.  Lakers superstar small forward LeBron James announced he’s taking a break from social media, telling his fans, “Y’all take care.”

Thanks for nothing, Dad!  There’s a great piece from Ramona Shelburne and Jamal Collier chronicling the Bulls’ Lonzo Ball’s 1,009-day absence, his “Hail Mary” career-saving surgery and how his Big Baller Brand shoes might have hurt him.  Updates to come.

The Bulls beat the Spurs, 139-124.

It’s a free-for-all!  The Suns’ Jusuf Nurkić and the Mavericks’ Naji Marshall and P. J. Washington were all ejected after an altercation escalated following a foul call in Phoenix during a 98-89 Mavericks win.

How many fights could we get in a week?  Chaos ensued in Houston as the Rockets’ Amen Thompson threw the Heat’s Tyler Herro to the ground, resulting in both teams getting into an all-out brawl in a 104-100 Heat win.

I cannot believe that after all the good he brought the franchise, it is about to receive an ugly ending.  The Heat suspended small forward Jimmy Butler seven games for multiple instances of conduct detrimental to the team.
