You hate to see this before the season officially begins.  Lakers star small forward LeBron James is going to be sidelined for at least 3-4 weeks due to sciatica on his right side.

The NBA is officially back tonight and it’s back with a bang!  What a way to begin the season than with a banner ceremony and one of the league’s best rivalries.  Here is the Opening Day schedule.

Houston Rockets at Oklahoma City Thunder tonight at 7:30 p.m.
Golden State Warriors at Los Angeles Lakers tonight at 10 p.m.

I am placing bets on this as Dunk of the Year (too soon?).  The Pelicans’ Zion Williamson threw down a filthy slam on the Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama.  This comes as the Spurs beat the Pelicans, 120-116, in overtime.

Welcome to the big time!  Cooper Flagg has arrived as the 18-year-old Mavericks rookie sensation pulled off a monster and-one poster dunk for his first signature NBA highlight.  Updates to come.

What a thriller tonight in Minneapolis!  Austin Reaves nailed the first game-winning buzzer-beater of the NBA season as the Lakers avoided a 20-point collapse against the Timberwolves, 116-115.

This has no place in the game.  The Magic’s Desmond Bane was ejected after dragging down the Hawks’ Onyeka Okonwgu and hurling the ball at him from close range in a 127-112 Magic loss.

The rookie is going to gracing posters in bedrooms near you soon.  Mavericks’ No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg nearly brought the house down with one of the wildest dunks of his rookie season.  Updates to come.

Lakers fans, close your eyes.  The Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama flew around Bronny James for an absurd poster slam.  Updates to come.

Dallas basketball fans made their frustrations known last night and the organization listened.  According to Shams Charania, the Mavericks are expected to fire president of basketball operations and general manager Nico Harrison today, less than on year after the team traded guard Luka Dončić to the Lakers.

Now this is a fight I would have liked to have seen.  The Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama and the Warriors’ Draymond Green went face-to-face, got heated and had to be separated after a nasty Wembanyama alley-oop.  This comes as the Warriors beat the Spurs, 109-108.

It will be sad to see this great career end.  The Clippers’ Chris Paul is retiring after the season.  He is a 12-time All-Star who has played in 21 NBA seasons.  Updates to come.

What a thriller tonight in Toronto!  The Lakers’ LeBron James’ streak of 1,297 games with at least 10 points is over as he ended the night with eight points in a 123-120 win over the Raptors.

The man is a freak of nature.  A truly otherworldly warmup shot by the Warriors’ Stephen Curry might be better than any NBA play I’ve seen.  Updates to come.

Is anybody missing their car?  Michigan Panthers wide receiver Samson Nacua, the brother of Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua, was arrested on suspicion of stealing a vehicle that reportedly belonged to a Lakers player.
