As a lifelong Red Wings fan, I am going to enjoy that since it's unlikely they'll be heading back to the playoffs this season.  No offense.

What a way to open the season.  We'll have the Battle of Ontario, a clash between the last two Stanley Cup champions and a pair of Pacific Division showdowns.  Your Opening Night schedule:

Ottawa Senators at Toronto Maple Leafs tonight at 7 p.m.
Washington Capitals at St. Louis Blues tonight at 8 p.m.
Vancouver Canucks at Edmonton Oilers tonight at 10 p.m.

No surprise, but this disease is getting the best of the sports world.  According to Emily Kaplan, the NHL suspended play because of the coronavirus but hopes to resume in the future.  The following games were postponed from tonight:  Predators vs. Maple Leafs, Sabres vs. Canadiens, Flyers vs. Lightning, Hurricanes vs. Devils, Red Wings vs. Capitals, Penguins vs. Blue Jackets, Golden Knights vs. Wild, Panthers vs. Stars, Islanders vs. Flames and Canucks vs. Coyotes.

Let's see how things go.  According to Adam Schefter and Adrian Wojnarowski, President Donald Trump spoke with 12 sports commissioners and hoped to have fans back in stadiums by August and September, adding that the NFL should start on time.

Looks like things are finally looking up for a return in one of the four major North American men's leagues.  The NHL will abandon the rest of the regular season and will go straight to the playoff with 24 teams if the season resumes.

Somebody put on "Wait" by Earshot!  The Lightning won the Stanley Cup after a 2-0 win over the Stars in Game 6.
