Can you believe college basketball is back?  Believe it or not, the season tips off this morning in Indianapolis with a large chunk of D-I in action.  After an incredible year last year, we’ve got new schools in the field (Mercyhurst, West Georgia, welcome to the party, pals), conferences realigned en mass and everybody trying to deny UConn a three-peat.  Enjoy the season and remember to be respectful.  Here’s the Opening Day schedule.

UPDATE 2:  We know who the top contenders are.  The men’s No. 1 seeds are 30-4 Florida in the West, 31-3 Duke in the East, 28-5 Auburn in the South and 30-4 Houston in the Midwest.  The Gators will play Norfolk State on Friday in Raleigh, N.C.  The Blue Devils will play on Friday in Raleigh, N.C., against the winner of Wednesday’s game in Dayton, Ohio, between Mount St. Mary’s and American.  The Tigers will play on Thursday in Lexington, Ky., against the winner of Tuesday’s game in Dayton, Ohio, between Saint Francis and Alabama State.  Houston will play SIU Edwardsville on Thursday in Wichita, Kan.  This comes as the No. 2 Gators beat No. 4 Tennessee, 86-77.

No. 10 Arkansas upset No. 7 Kansas, 79-72, to advance to play No. 2 St. John’s, who got an 83-53 win over No. 15 Omaha, on Saturday in Providence, R.I.
No. 4 Texas A&M beat No. 13 Yale, 80-71, to advance to play No. 5 Michigan, who got a 68-65 win over No. 12 UC San Diego, on Saturday in Denver.
No. 11 Drake upset No. 6 Missouri, 67-57, to advance to play No. 3 Texas Tech, who got an 82-72 win over No. 14 UNC Wilmington, on Saturday in Wichita, Kan.

UPDATE:  We got the first shocker of the tournament.  No. 12 McNeese stunned No. 5 Clemson, 69-67, for their first NCAA tournament win in school history.  The Cowboys will play No. 4 Purdue, who got a 75-63 win over No. 13 High Point, on Saturday in Providence, R.I.

This is my new leader for the biggest upset of the tournament.  No. 10 Arkansas upset No. 2 St. John’s, 75-66.  Razorbacks head coach John Calipari is the second coach to lead four different schools to the Sweet 16.  The Razorbacks will play Texas Tech on Thursday in San Francisco.

What a thriller tonight in Seattle!  No. 4 Maryland beat No. 12 Colorado State, 72-71, to advance to the Sweet 16 on freshman Derik Queen’s buzzer-beating shot off the window.  The Terrapins will play Florida on Thursday in San Francisco.

History has been rewritten.  No. 2 Alabama set a record for threes in an NCAA tournament game with 22 and the game is far from over.  Updates to come.

UPDATE:  To score 75 points from beyond the arc is insane to consider.  Alabama shattered an NCAA tournament record with 25 treys in a 113-88 win over No. 6 BYU.  The Crimson Tide will play Duke on Saturday in Newark, N.J.

I freaking love March!  No. 3 Texas Tech nailed a three-pointer to cap a 16-3 run at the end of regulation to force overtime in the Sweet 16 against No. 10 Arkansas.  Updates to come.
