It always amazes me when baseball comes back because it feels like last season just ended.  Major League Baseball is back as the preseason starts today in Sarasota, Fla.  Let this be your home for news and notes from around the diamond all season long.

I am in disbelief.  Venezuela defeated the United States, 3-2, to claim the nation’s first World Baseball Classic title.

Batter up!  The first pitches of the MLB season come today with one of the game’s most heralded rivalries.  Here is your Opening Night schedule.

The Nationals beat the Cubs, 10-4.
The Orioles beat the Twins, 2-1.
The Red Sox beat the Reds, 3-0.
The Angels beat the Astros, 3-0.

This is all kinds of sleazy!  The Phillies’ Alec Bohm is suing his parents for millions, accusing them of siphoning large amounts of his money and using some to pay their own expenses.  This come as the Phillies beat the Rangers, 5-3.

Somebody call 911.  The Angels’ Jo Adell dazzled with three home run robberies in just one game in a 1-0 win over the Mariners.

I knew it was not going to be long until we got a huge fight this season.  The Angels’ Jorge Soler charged the mound after nearly being hit by a pitch, leading to punches flying from both teams in a 7-2 loss to the Braves.
